Someone asked about jar spells, so here's my go-to Hoodoo prosperity jar — the one I work during the Waxing Moon, when the pull is toward growth and gathering in. Honey, herbs, and a written petition, built with intention and sealed with wax. Simple work, and it holds power.
What You'll Need
- Small glass jar with lid — mason jars or old honey jars work well
- Honey or sugar
- Brown paper bag — torn, not cut
- Green pen
- Basil, cinnamon, mint, cloves, and ginger — whatever you have is fine
- Coins and a dollar bill
- Green or gold candle
- Money drawing oil, or make your own with olive oil, cinnamon, and basil
The Spell
Write your petition. On the torn brown paper, write exactly what you want in present tense — be specific. Something like "By December 15th, I have $500 in my account," or whatever your goal is. Write your full name three times crossing over your petition, then fold it toward you three times, pulling that money in.
Build the jar. Pour honey or sugar in the bottom to sweeten the money flow. Drop in your petition paper. Add your herbs one at a time, speaking to each one as you go:
- "Basil, bring me money and success"
- "Cinnamon, bring quick cash flowing to me"
- "Mint, multiply my money"
- "Cloves, protect my prosperity"
- "Ginger, give me the power to succeed"
Add your coins, and fold that dollar bill toward you before it goes in the jar.
Seal it up. Dress your green candle with money oil, rubbing it up the candle toward you — never down. Light it, and drip the wax over the lid to seal the jar shut. As you do, speak the words:
"Money flow to me with ease,
Prosperity comes as I please,
By the waxing moon I call,
Abundance, wealth, I welcome all.
Blessed by the Holy Trinity, I count it out — one, two, three — as I speak it, so mote it be:
Money, cash, abundantly come to me.
Money, cash, abundantly come to me.
Money, cash, abundantly come to me."
Work the jar. Set it somewhere private where moonlight can reach it through the rest of this waxing phase — every touch of moonlight makes it stronger. Shake it daily and speak your intention. Keep that energy moving; don't let it go stagnant.
Why It Works
The petition paper is the anchor — writing your goal in present tense, in your own name, tells your intention exactly where to go. Folding it toward you is a small physical act that mirrors the pulling-in you're asking for.
Honey and sugar sweeten the work, making the outcome more welcoming rather than forced. The herbs each carry their own long-worked jobs in root work — basil for success, cinnamon for speed, mint for multiplying, cloves for protection, ginger for the drive to see it through.
Sealing the jar with wax locks the work in and keeps the energy contained and building, rather than leaking back out. Shaking it and speaking to it daily keeps you an active partner in the work instead of a bystander waiting on it.
Important Notes
- In Hoodoo, we respect the work. When your money manifests, thank your jar.
- When the work is done, you can bury the jar in your yard to keep blessings flowing, or take it apart respectfully and return the herbs to the earth.
- Never just trash it — honor what helped you.
"But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today."
Deuteronomy 8:18
